Humikal Agro Trade Ltd. – distributors of the growth enhancer and soil improver Humikal Universal Classic organic-mineral fertiliser – couldn’t have arrived at a better time to the foundation with the forty PE bags, each weighing 25 kilos. According to the Foundation, the mortality rate of planted trees is rather high if no nutrient supplements are used.
The 50-100 cm tall, rooted saplings were transported to the planting site in large water containers, where 2.5 kg granulate was shovelled into the hole prepared for the roots, and after planting the trees, a further 1-1.5 kg granulate was spread over the surrounding soil surface. Watering was not necessary, as the soil was sufficiently wet thanks to the rain a day earlier.
When applied into the soil, the granulate fills up the roots and the soil with such micro- and macro elements at the same time, that revive the nutrients, which are no longer available to the plant, while they befit the plant to process this.
At the planting site, we shared this mechanism with the managing director of the foundation, Franciska Hervai and their colleague Balázs Bozzay, who expected this exact type of professional support in the course of urban tree planting, calling attention to environmental changes. They believe extreme climatic changes will soon present a major challenge to the foresting process as well. The amount spread will do its job, it will strengthen the roots and accelerate shroud growth. If half a year later the plant is watered with the liquid fertiliser of the Humikal Universal product range, it will respond in kind with further growth. Success is ensured also due to the fact that the Humikal Universal product range is made of 95% biological ingredients.
Control sample: as we previously discussed, 300 saplings were established as a treated control zone on three separate, but as a unit, homogeneous plots, so as to make the efficiency feedback visible compared to untreated plots. The surrounding area was fabulous, the beautiful sunny weather made the hard work move forward with ease. We got so immersed into planting, that we even missed the rich meat soup, which was served at noon in a pot. But the frantic team quickly made up for that too.
